The QC INSPECTOR performs a wide variety of inspection operations within the manufacturing environment. This includes complicated inspections in the Shop, NC Milling department, Assembly area, Final Inspection area and the Receiving Inspection area per drawing requirements.
Sets up and performs precision inspections using all forms of precision measuring equipment such as surface plates, height gages, gage blocks, surface finish comparator and other measuring instruments. These inspections include:
1) 1st use fixture and gage inspection, 
2) 1st run and new part prove outs, 
3) 1st piece
4) Final Inspection
5) First Article Inspection
In addition, the inspector assists operator in the use of inspection equipment, interpretation of blueprints, and other Quality-related activities. He/she assists in problem solving, preliminary review and cause and corrective action and may work with Quality Methods, Production and/or Design. As such, a high degree of interpersonal skills is mandatory.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Reads blueprints to determine proper specifications.
  • Inspects parts to ensure within specifications.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Provide process improvement support to Machine Shop, Panel Assembly and operating units across the company & support the necessity to implement process improvements & teams with a sense of urgency.
  • Plan, organize, conduct and follow-up on projects, tasks &/or events with the ability to switch back and forth between facilitative leader and driver as situations dictate.
  • Perform a variety of duties, changing often from one task to another without loss of focus or purpose while identifying and defining problems, evaluating alternatives, and implementing cost-effective solutions.
  • Understand and communicate company policies, procedures, vision, goals, and safety regulations to the teams & encouraging ownership for manufacturing and/or operational strategic planning initiatives (i.e. S&OP, etc).

GENERAL FUNCTION:

  1. Report corrective and preventive actions.
  2. Provide evidence to the implementation of quality metrics to the Quality Assurance Manager.
  3. Report quality performance trends to Quality Manager including major issues which could affect business performance.
  4. Develop and maintain audit schedules and keep project/departments notified of upcoming audits.
  5. Identify and follow up on audit findings, corrective/preventive action requests (CAPAs) and observations (OBS).
  6. Implement an effective tracking system for audit findings.
  7. Conduct quality audit trainings and other related trainings to applicable personnel related to quality procedures, workmanship standards, gaging, and inspection techniques, including completion of certification and recertification audit requirements.
  8. Perform preliminary review and processing of non-conformances. This include preliminary recommendation on disposition on discrepancies that require immediate action, initiate or request corrective action when discrepancies are found, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate actions made.
  9. Develop and maintain various area metrics, compile data, and issue reports. When required, develop and monitor action plans to improve performance based on measured data.
  10. Review and approve assembly worksheets and job sheets or other applicable work instructions.
  11. Assist in identifying root causes, where applicable.
  12. Observe the JPI policies and procedures at all times.
  13. Provides internal communication regarding compliance issues and applicable regulation changes.
  14. Aids in the creation of gap analysis to any new/changed regulations.
  15. Work with the departments audited to resolve compliance issues, provide recommendation, communication on status of action resolution and bringing to management issues that require attention tracking corrective actions.
  16. Maintain files generated from each audit.
  17. Responsible for on-site audit of supplier quality systems.
  18. Plan audit, execute and prepare audit report.
  19. Responsible for executing internal and external good manufacturing practices audits.
  20. Formally document findings.
  21. Perform necessary follow-up which include communicating with auditee(s) on status of action resolution.
  22. Maintains up to date training program.
  23. Responsible for execution of Internal audits.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Above average human relation skills and attitude required to successfully perform audits and motivate production personnel in quality attitude and standards of workmanship.
  • The incumbent likewise, is responsible to learn, understand, translate and communicate all related customer, regulatory, and industry specifications related to the products the incumbent represents.
  • This position is performed with a minimum of supervision. A high level of self-motivation and a thorough knowledge of the operation and application of all gauging equipment employed in the machine shop and panel assembly as well as understanding of manufacturing processes is required. The incumbent must also be completely familiar with all the quality control requirements imposed upon the manufacturing and assembly area.
  • The incumbent must possess technical competence in inspection theory, practices, procedures and involved mathematics, and the application of precision measuring instruments as applied to precision machined parts and sub-assemblies. In addition, must be knowledgeable in the interpretation of documented and traditional visual and workmanship standards, knowledge of process capability, working knowledge of and ability to apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) in manufacturing, and working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • The candidate must be able to effectively communicate in English (both written and oral) and should have a very high degree of interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in basic microsoft applications, power point, and other related softwares.
  • Can speak, read and preferably write the Japanese language.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Associate degree in Technology, or completed 3rd year in Engineering (ME/ECE/EE/IE) with 5 years working experience in a precision manufacturing environment and a minimum of 2 years audit experience.

GENERAL FUNCTION:

The MACHINE OPERATOR operates machine to cut and fabricate metal products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Machine variety of parts utilizing one or more of the following type of equipment: band saw, drop saw, drilling machines and other conventional machines in the shop area.
  • Studies and interpret drawings, manuals, specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces.
  • Clean and remove burrs from parts using various tools.
  • Measures and verifies specifications by measuring completed component.
  • Detects equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjust machine, within capabilities. Report all machine malfunctions to immediate supervisor.
  • Communicates with supervisor, engineers, production control, quality and other shop personnel to for assignments and to resolve quality issues.
  • Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventive maintenance function on equipment.
  • Moves parts to next operation.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Basic knowledge and application of measuring instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicator and scales.
  • Basic knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with an basic understanding of geometric tolerance and dimensions.
  • Basic knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bar , fixtures, inserts and other accessories used in various machines.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to communicate in English (both oral and written).
  • Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, and trigonometry for the purpose calculating material fabrication.
  • Team-player.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Machine Shop or Mechanical Technology graduate.
  • 1-2 years direct experience in operating conventional machines.
